Magpie Tales-Common Good

Lost my job
Hedging my money
My kids have to eat
Tax someone else
National deficit
Socialism
The end
The start
Rich versus poor
Voices from
The left
And
The right
Zero sum game
Unless someone blinks
Let's just focus
On the future
Our children
Our earth
Reach out
Honor the past
Make it happen
Now

a nice call to action on the social-political world in which we live...the growing divide between the haves and have nots is a bit scary...

Great piece, strident yet thoughtful;
for technology leads us down a
blindfolded path, and our youth
are feeling the need for constant
stimulation, cannot stop texting
and tweeting and surfing, and these
additions keep most of us from
noticing that the polar caps are
melting, as are glaciers, that
tornadoes are born more often,
more randomly, that the middle
east strains for democracy, a dream,
a carefully constructed illusion that
those who own the world have
sold us, just as they raise the price
of gas every time their pocket change
goes under a trillion--and so you
focus on the real here, and do not
seem to be dissuaded by the divers
diversions you are immersed in.

A powerful statement within this strong piece... and I couldn't agree more.
