Monday Morning Wake Up Call-King Tut
Mr. Jackson and I visited the King Tut exhibit in Times Square and had almost as much fun as Steve Martin did doing this bit. An extensive review of King Tut's family and antiquities, the exhibit made me want to learn more. If you can, check it out. Until then, dance along with Steve and have a great week!

Welcome to the wondrous world of true Egyptology! If you carry on and decide to learn more, you'll quickly notice that Tutankhamun's reign was one of the more or less uninteresting periods.... and that Steve Martin isn't all that funny anymore. At lest not after ten years of Egyptological studies. LOL

RA--you are correct on both counts--Steve isn't that funny anymore and King Tut's ancestors were much more interesting ...if you can recommend a book that furthers my knowledge--I'd love to read it. best-c
CM, there is one book that I recommend to everybody wanting to know more. (and that's to say, because I have 400 Egyptology books!)It is Jan Assmann's "The mind of Egypt", a book that never gets old. It not the easiest of books to read, but well worth the effort, because it tells you what Ancient Egypt was all bout: their beliefs, their thougts, their systems.... their life and eys, their mind. I think it is way more interesting than silly detailed books about reign after reign, which can and even must be read afterwards.

I visited the King Tut exhibit in LA when I was in elementary school, and I could kick myself for not taking my sons when it was here a short time ago.
