Theme Thursday-Ball

Arnaldo Pomodoro's sculpture "Sphere within a Sphere" is located in the Vatican City in Rome. I first saw it in '99 when the city of Rome was getting ready for 2000. Rome was sparkling--no graffiti or soot. I was mesmerized then and took many shots, all film. I am disappointed that I can't show my view in '99 next to my view in 2007 when Mr. Jackson and I visited on our honeymoon.

For me this particular shot reflects the heavens above and  the 'skyline' of ancient Rome separated by what looks like technology or progress. Today, I can't help but think about the Gulf oil spill and the wars that continue.

Today is Theme Thursday. Drop by here.

Whoa! Great capture. When I was taking shots, there were plenty of tourists around. You got a neat one. :)

The center of the sphere reminds me of piano keys. I almost expect to hear music. Funny, I've been there twice and don't remember seeing this.

It is an amazing shot and you complete the circle by correlating ancient Rome to today and beyond

I know this is not the appropriate place to raise this, but I just re-read your profile and saw again your musical interests (I share) and other concerns (I also share) and wonder when I will see some writing on the theme: "is the gulf oil spill the turning point for the environmwnt or the beginning of its total collapse?"
Not necessarily by you personally, but by American bloggers!
It scares the shit out of me, a long time environmentalist, that there is so much praying to a god who, if he/sh/it exists, is laughing, and so little apparent effort going into urgently needed reform.
Same here of course, but if the US doesn't get rolling everyone else uses that as an excuse!
I picked you for this rave because you seem to be on the wavelength and probably feel as helpless as I do!
Feel free ot block this if you prefer, it will have no bearing on my appreciation of your writing. XX
